Is it even worth pointing out the idiocy of stuff like this?

The fact that the Khmer Rouge were able to rule the country with an iron fist in part because of the strict gun control laws in place has been lost on the United Nations.

It’s probably worth pointing out, but you might want to elaborate as to why exactly I’m an idiot.

    I don’t get it…

If the UN were having a conference on deathes caused by obesity would they be discussing a way to remove spoon ownership from the citizenry?

Perhaps you shuld try, otherwise you’re the one who looks like an idiot. Cam’s statement is pretty much true.

Other great ideas for U.N. Conferences To Prevent Hazards …

… Vehicle Safety (let’s take away all the cars!)

… Fast Food (no, wait, Chicago’s got a jump on them there)

… Rain (it causes flooding, doesn’t it?)

The Khmer Rouge came to power through a mix of nationalism and idealism. They held power through fear and violence. To try and suggest that gun laws somehow played a role in any of it is beyond ridiculous.

  10. Darkside007 Says:

Umm…. You can’t rule through fear and violence against an armed populace, or at the very least you’d have a much harder time doing it.

    Which was his point…

As Darkside pointed out, chamta, just HOW do you cow an armed citizenry?

Your side of the aisle believes in the great power of idealism, and that truly does exist, but without the power to back it up, idealism tends to fall to raw brute strength every time.
